The Value of Sleeping in on Saturday and Ikea

Ahhh....Saturday morning.....my new memory foam mattress cover (a Christmas gift from mom), no alarms set on the clock radio (on workdays 2 go off - ten minutes apart, both 1/2 hour later than real time - future blog post), flannel sheets....dozing.....reading....dozing.....heaven....coffee ready downstairs...God bless auto-brew.

And She's up! Lorraine is coming by in a bit and a trip to Ikea will ensue. We're always up for Ikea - the store of my people (actually, the store of the people west of my people but we speak the same language and my people - Swedish Finns - don't have their own store, at least not one I can drive to today). Not sure what I need from there today but pretty sure there will be something. Lorraine is redesigning the office space in her kitchen - I am providing design assistance and general knowledge of all things tasteful. This will serve two purposes: first, the always-enjoyable time spent with Lorraine, and second, avoidance of the large pile of bills, bank statements and paperwork currently located on the floor near my own desk.

Sleeping in on Saturday and Ikea - a procrastinator's paradise -

'K, but once we get my new shelf installed and I start setting up my new office you have to go home and face your papers. And we can wave out our office windows to each other. HELLO! Didn't even think of that advantage to my new reorg!

Yay! Welcome to our little neighborhood!
Look here....(lifts tinfoil) ... a mince pie as a welcome present.
I'll come back when you're all unpacked. Lorraine can help with that.

Wow, I like it here.

Lorraine told me to bring a casserole. Trust me, you don't want that. Which is why I brought this bottle of wine. Got a corkscrew?

Oh, I'm in on the groundbreaking!!! I've brought a coffee cake, low fat Bisquick recipe so it is a bit dry...sorry. I used to love, love, love going to IKEA with my daughter whether we needed something or not. I still have rugs, utensils and an end table from there. Got all of my son's dorm stuff there too years back. I miss IKEA...and malls, Macy's, even Sears....all we have here is WallyWonderWorld. Welcome to blogland. I have read so much about you and am really pleased to finally meet you.

Welcome to blogland. I'm a new tenant myself. Ikea is a great way to spend sometime if you get there before the throng of folks. I live close to it, so I try to sneak in at odd times to avoid the crowds. But three cheers for affordable furnishings and swedish meatballs.

I've got a lovely tuna casserole as a welcome to the blog-block. (Cuz that's the only casserole recipe I know how to make well.) I hope you enjoy blogging and blog more than I do - that's all I (sheepishly) gotta say.

I'm known in these parts as sfoofie, Stacy, or Iwanski niece...

Oh my goodness!

It's a school night people - I love you all but I can't have - Lorraine, get the lampshade off your head (yes Sling, she does drink a little) - the tuna casserole is awesome Sfoofie, you mid-westerners have that number down (any niece of Iwanski's is an honorary niece of mine) and it goes great with Hat's Bread of My People (I'm glad you just added only water) - we'll need Sling's forks and paper plates stat, but now that we're all here, shouldn't we have a special Sling-cocktail to commemorate? I'll add chocolate syrup to Rosemary's coffee cake - no more dryness! Kimberly Ann - call me next time you're up for a trip to Ikea - Lorraine and I will - Lorraine! That was a perfectly good lampshade from Pottery Barn! Willym - thanks for the snaps but I'm now completely intrigued by the breasts, please explain, especially Hat's relationship to same - JP, you shouldn't have, I'm saving this bottle for later when you all go home, and yes, I own at least 4 corkscrews not counting the one I keep handy in my car (did you once refer to me as a lush? - bitch) - SCG, I puffy heart you and hope your first week back at work was fab - Darling Buck, you know I love my mince pie and will hoard every last crumb -

Thanks all for the warm welcome to blogopia - so glad to be part of the fam - and yes Willym, it looks promising that it indeed will be one of those sorts of blogs.

Oh, and Lorraine, you have a little bit of something, just right there, on the side of your mouth - OK, it's gone now - go home and make dinner for the family while you can still navigate the 50 feet to your house.

xo to all,

nayb

..just the thing to take the chill off these cold Winter nights!

It's cold and snowy here...pass the rum, Sling. Chcoclate....perfect on the coffeecake. You really put on a good party neighbor.....I will lower my voice a bit....Lorraine wore a lamp shade at another party I went to.

Willym said...

Well Neighbour - that sounds so Mr Rogers doesn't it - Hat has these incredible breats and you serve them on a bed of mushed up celery root. Now they're more than a nibble - more like a mouthful but damn are they tasty.

"gmitsn" - give me sin.... yes now we're talking - okay didn't like that one so now its being really rude and saying: fptvwcgy well same to you Google and no Hat breast for you!

I've got home made carmel. Um, where would you like this plant?

I like how I always show up late when everyone else and the place is trashed and since it's all relative, I look reasonable and dependable. You know, like a grown up. And no one notices that I didn't bring a casserole because I do NOT do casseroles. Or much cooking for that matter. But I bring wine. Me and JP. We bring wine.

I'd like to know how it is you just starting blogging and already have such a touch. What? Is it a Seattle thang?

Welcome to the world of blogging. You probably don't have any more room in your freezer so I've brought you a basket of teas from Teavana.

PS LOVE love Ikea!

Darling Sling - your hot buttered rum will hit the spot tonight when I return from yet another Ikea run with Lorraine - thank you!

Rosemary - thanks so much for stopping by and Mouse, the carmel is - wait, it's stuck to the top of my mouth - utterly fab as is the plant, although you must know that plants in my house are all on death row - they only have a few months to live...

Booda B - better late than never and thank you for the compliment - I think living next door to Lorraine is the key, something about osmosis, and bring wine anytime, I'm a fan -

Anne, the teas are heavenly and truly, Ikea does rule.

Finally, Willym Dahling, could you possibly be referring to "brats", as in "bratwurst"? I'm just not getting this -

xo nayb
